The 3D Virtual Reader is what gets installed on devices, The 3D Virtual Publisher is the portal for creating and publishing content with authoring tools.
Anybody, both professional publishers and self-publishers, will be able to log in, create an account and publish. They will be able to upload their content, choose a template, or create a custom template, and lay out the pages in the style of a print publication.
Simple content, like written books, will have auto generation capabilities. More complex content can be laid out page by page using on-screen tools. Publications can be saved and reopened for editing.
Publishers will be able to set fonts and format text any way they like, set attributes like headers, footers, columns and margins, add pictures and multi-media elements, and compile a complete page turning publication.
When the content is ready, it can be published to the cloud and be available to readers who have installed the 3D Virtual Reader on their device. Publishers will set categories like newspapers, magazines, books, manuals etc. And then set subcategories like fiction, non-fiction, biographies, educational, news, style, sports, medical — just about anything you can put in print.
Once the content has been published to the library, any reader will be able to add it to their personal library either stored on their device or kept online for retrieval anytime.
The plan will be to add features like a payment gateway for subscriptions and an advertising system to generate revenues.
The portal will give statistics on what titles were downloaded, how long readers spent looking at pages and reading the whole publication, which pages were looked at most — exactly the type of information that advertisers will want. Also, subscriber data for paid content to see what revenues they are making from single copy sales or ongoing subscriptions for periodicals.
The 3D Virtual Publisher portal completes the end-to-end pipeline from publisher to reader. Just like print publishing, there needs to be a method to create content and a delivery mechanism to readers. The portal provides all that and will be free.
Not only does the Portal give publishers the ability to create and publish, but opportunities to monetize their content.
